Happy Birthday to Us! Today this weblog turns 2 years old!
It was two years ago today I decided to start this weblog. I am pleased that we have had another successful year of operation in which the site has crossed many milestones. I had no idea when I started this weblog that I would still be doing it two years later . This site means a lot to me and it has truly been a rewarding experience. I would have never imagined that this site would be such a large place which covers a wide range of subject matter for thousands of readers each month. Thank you for supporting us through your visits and participation in the community. Indeed without dedicated readers, a site has no meaning or future.
Over the past year the site has grown immensely. We welcomed over 36 000 readers in our second year- which is three times more than the 12 000 readers who visited us in our first year. We have welcomed dozens of wonderful more regulars to the community and have had an increase in discussion throughout the site. We have affiliated with various other sites including LOST fan site, LOST Media and MSG Network’s LOST Hub Page. Back in March, we launched ourFacebook page which readers can use to follow the blog and related announcements .We enhanced reader – management communication in April by adding Meebo to our sidebar. Readers can now chat with management in real-time about any issues with the site . I would also like to thank Editors Nisreen O’Neill and Zaynab Karimjee for their continuous work in the site over the past year.
Over the past year we provided coverage on the first half of Stargate Universe, provided extensive coverage on LOST as the show progresses in its sixth and final season and provided coverage on the fourth season of Little Mosque on the Prairie . We also had a central focus on the coverage and discussion of the upcoming Stargate Films which have been placed on hold by MGM. We continued to explore the world of Science by continuing our regular Science Fact of the Month feature which provided overview on various scientific issues. During our second year, we provided Muslim readers with up to date information on the dates of both Eid Ul Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Together we celebrated these occasions and remembered their significance. We also continued to post great deal of subject matter pertaining to the environment.
What plans do we have for year #3?Our third year in operation promises to be the most eventful one. After two successful years on WordPress, we are excited to reveal that we will moving to a self hosted site in June. Details regarding the movement will be provided shortly .At our new website we will continue providing coverage of our current subject matter and have great opportunities to expand the community .
Before we leave , we will be having a central focus on LOST with tributes, coverage , a special surprise and discussion as the series comes to a close. At our new site we will launch coverage on a few more Science Fiction series including, Smallville as the show enters in tenth and final season, and resume our coverage of Stargate Universe as the show approaches the end of its inaugural season . Furthermore, we will providing all of the latest developments regarding Little Mosque on the Prairie’s exciting fifth season and stream all episodes from the coming season. Be sure to expect coverage on a few games shows including the popular, Deal or No Deal .We will also be having some special new regular features which will be introduced next month. We also, generally, intend on posting more frequently. We hope that as a much larger self hosted site we can attract more readers and use a wider range of technological applications.
Thank you for being apart of our community and helping make the past year a blast! We look forward to another spectacular year where we work with readers to make our new site the best it can be!
