Stargate Universe Returns With Final Episodes on March 7

Wednesday, February 9, 2011 @ 09:02 PM

Indeed, Stargate Universe will  return with its final episodes , on Monday, March 7 at 10:00pm eastern standard time on SyFy. The news was first issued via SyFy’s program scheduling .

The move to Monday nights, brings the series out of the typically  , highly competitive Tuesday nights, where  SGU scored considerably poor ratings through the first half of  its current second season, which of course resulted in  the series’ cancellation. The show  will now be airing  immediately after the recent  hit series,  Being Human,  which airs at 9:00pm on Mondays and premiered in January, with  the accumulation of almost  2 million viewers.

The second half   of SGU will of course continue on from the cliff-hanger left in Resurgence and the first episode is entitled, Deliverance.

Take a look at the initial schedule March 2011, below.

March 7 – Deliverance
March 14 – Twin Destinies
March 21 – Alliances
March 28 – Hope

News regarding the  debut date for the second half of  Stargate Universe on Space[Canada] and Sky One [ UK] has yet  to be announced.

Meanwhile, producer, Joseph Mallozzi continues  to keep fans apprised, on his blog,  as to the developments which producer, Brad  Wright ha been making with his negotiations with MGM, to have the series continue in some form. It has, however been  made clear by Mallozzi that a third season is not a possibility.

“Still no definite word on the Stargate front,” Mallozzi said.  “Following a flurry of promising developments, things have gone unbearably quiet.  Not a bad sign just … no sign.  There’s an anticipation that good news could break any day now — but the longer the wait, the greater the challenge when the time comes.  To those holding out hope that this could mean a third season pick-up — alas, this isn’t one of the scenarios in play.

“Nevertheless, as I said in a previous entry, if and when we finally do get the green light, Brad has some wonderful surprises in store for fans of SGU (as well as fans of the Stargate franchise in general)

Keep up to date on these developments, on our SGU Cancellation Page.

What are your thoughts on the new time slot, both in terms of your schedule and in terms of the effect on ratings? What do you think is in stire for the future of SGU? Sound off in the comments section below.
