Indeed, the day following SyFy’s announcement of SGU’s return date in the USA, Canada’s Space Network, has announced that SGU 2.5, will debut on Tuesday, March 8 2011 at 10:00pm eastern standard time.

This new time slot marks the change from Friday nights to Tuesday nights.

Though SGU scored relatively poor ratings in the USA, which resulted in the series ‘ cancellation, the show has generated record breaking ratings for Space. A reason for the change in the timeslot is unknown.

Read the brief excerpt description of the first episode of the second half of the season, Deliverance, which was provided by the network below. Please note the description does contain spoilers and those who wish to maintain a strong sense of surprise, should avoid further reading.

The final 10 episodes pick up from December’s jarring cliffhanger, where the Destiny encountered two warring races and an ally thought dead returned. In the Season 2.5 premiere, “Deliverance,” the Destiny is now locked in a battle with a Drone Command Ship and surprised by the arrival of the aliens that abducted Rush and Chloe.

What do you think of the new time slot, in terms of ratings? What storylines, exploration and character dynamics do you think or at-least anticipate that the series will explore before it draws to a close.

Why do you think the aliens ,   who captured Rush  and Chloe have returned? What is their relation to the Drones, if any? Do you think that Chloe has fully transformed and what are her true motives? Are the Urinis still the allies of those aboard Destiny and what role do you think they will play  towards the current   battle? How will the crew  respond  to the crisis which  they are facing? Sound off in the comments section to  start the discussion/ speculation!

Indeed, Stargate Universe will  return with its final episodes , on Monday, March 7 at 10:00pm eastern standard time on SyFy. The news was first issued via SyFy’s program scheduling .

The move to Monday nights, brings the series out of the typically  , highly competitive Tuesday nights, where  SGU scored considerably poor ratings through the first half of  its current second season, which of course resulted in  the series’ cancellation. The show  will now be airing  immediately after the recent  hit series,  Being Human,  which airs at 9:00pm on Mondays and premiered in January, with  the accumulation of almost  2 million viewers.

The second half   of SGU will of course continue on from the cliff-hanger left in Resurgence and the first episode is entitled, Deliverance.

Take a look at the initial schedule March 2011, below.

March 7 – Deliverance
March 14 – Twin Destinies
March 21 – Alliances
March 28 – Hope

News regarding the  debut date for the second half of  Stargate Universe on Space[Canada] and Sky One [ UK] has yet  to be announced.

Meanwhile, producer, Joseph Mallozzi continues  to keep fans apprised, on his blog,  as to the developments which producer, Brad  Wright ha been making with his negotiations with MGM, to have the series continue in some form. It has, however been  made clear by Mallozzi that a third season is not a possibility.

“Still no definite word on the Stargate front,” Mallozzi said.  “Following a flurry of promising developments, things have gone unbearably quiet.  Not a bad sign just … no sign.  There’s an anticipation that good news could break any day now — but the longer the wait, the greater the challenge when the time comes.  To those holding out hope that this could mean a third season pick-up — alas, this isn’t one of the scenarios in play.

“Nevertheless, as I said in a previous entry, if and when we finally do get the green light, Brad has some wonderful surprises in store for fans of SGU (as well as fans of the Stargate franchise in general)

Keep up to date on these developments, on our SGU Cancellation Page.
